The branch AGM will be held in the School Hall in Ballybryan on Wed 15th Nov at 8.30 pm. All our existing members are invited to attend and the parents of children attending the music classes are asked to attend also. There are important issues to be discussed so it is vital that you attend
Commemoration.
A commemoration Mass took place in Aras an Mhuillin on Friday last which was attended by members from all over the Offaly area. The annual celebration is in remembrance of all deceased members of Comhaltas in the Midlands. Mary Hanley among others of the Edenderry branch attended and reported to us that prayers for the recovery of Betty Rogers who is still in hospital were said during the Mass. Betty is a member of Rhode Comhaltas

 KILLEIGH COMHALTAS:

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER:

Our AGM took place recently in our Teach Cheoil.

The following were elected as our branch officers for the coming year:
Chair: Adrian Reynolds
Vice-chair: Carthage Keyes
Secretary:  Attracta Brady
Treasurer: Claire Guinan
Youth Officer: Laura Tempnay
Auditor: Garvan Hickey

Carthage has decided to take a small step back this year after being in the hot seat since 2005. Carthage has made a huge contribution to the branch and was instrumental in us acquiring the Teach Cheoil building. What an amazing legacy that will be!

Best wishes:
We send our best wishes to Michael John Cafferkey from Achill who is very unwell at the moment. His daughter Maria Hartnett is one of our music teachers and a valued member of the branch. Only last year, Maria, her brother Des & their Dad performed for us in Lynch's on the night of our 1916 Proclamation Awards. On the night, Michael John performed his own composition about Killeigh & Tullamore that he had composed specially for the occasion.

Cash For Clobber:
As we don't have the manpower for bagpacking, we are doing a Cash for Clobber collection. So if you have any unwanted clothing, you can drop them to us. All details are in the attachment.

As you may have seen in the local paper, we were successful in obtaining a grant to refurbish the classrooms & upper levels of our Teach Cheoil on Offaly Street. We are delighted that Killeigh-based Willie O'Connell will be carrying out the work. Willie has been a supporter/sponsor of our activities in the past & we are happy to return the goodwill. This will make our classrooms nice & cosy and better than what they are currently.

Christmas Busking:
We are playing in the Bridge Centre on Sat December 16th from 2-4pm. We'll have the tunes & buckets out so we look forward to having plenty of musicians with us on the day.
We'll look at Hunting the Wren on Stephen's Night a little closer to the time.

More info about our kiddies Christmas session/party coming soon.

We have a lot of plans for 2018 including a trip to Nenagh to play tunes with Ormond Comhaltas in March & an exchange with a branch in Cork. More details in due course!

Looking forward to seeing loads of clobber.
